Artist on site daily, creating a new sculpture “The Wanderer’s Tree”

1801 Bay Street, Ucluelet BC.

It’s been about twenty years since Mike Camp left the coastal lifestyle behind him and set out on a personal journey of reverie and art making. In his wake, he bestowed the west coast with a powerful work of art that has since become one of Ucluelet’s most recognized landmark attractions.

Created circa 1992, Raven Lady is an ambitious sculpture made entirely of welded stainless steel, standing approximately 12 feet tall. The symbolically charged work tells a story of the unity of opposites, entanglement, transformation, the emergence of light and creative transformation, as well as our own personal relationship to nature and the coming of a new age.

Now, after two decades of working in the remote corners of the Canadian wilderness, Mike Camp will return to Ucluelet to commission a second landmark sculpture for RAVENLADY’s community space.  Using his signature material of stainless steel, Mike will be on-site during the month of April, creating a piece to celebrate the wandering soul with all of us, the seeker, and the journey of life.

Along with this special commission, RAVENLADY will be hosting an exhibition of Mike Camp’s landscape paintings, including a public reception.  We invite you to attend, meet the artist, and to visit us throughout the month to see the progression of the sculpture in the front garden.
